About me
Legal advice with a commercial perspective
I am David Korte, an attorney based in Hamburg, Germany. I advise entrepreneurs, managing directors and founders on the legal questions that shape how a company is built, run and developed.
I have been admitted to the German bar since 2011 and am a member of the Hanseatic Bar Association Hamburg. For several years I contributed to major international renewable energy projects, gaining experience with cross-border contractual and corporate structures; that work was regularly conducted in English. I also teach on the law relating to artificial intelligence.
Working language: I advise in German and English. Please note that legal advice is given on German law; for other jurisdictions I work with local counsel.
How I work
Addressing causes, not managing symptoms
A legal problem is rarely just a legal problem. More often it is a business problem that surfaces in legal form: in a contract that no longer fits the business, in a shareholding structure that creates conflict, in responsibilities that were never clearly assigned.
A doctor who treats only the symptom provides short-term relief. Whoever finds the cause solves the problem for good, keeping the whole organism in view rather than just the painful spot. That is how I work.
Before I draft a clause, I want to understand how decisions are actually taken in your company, where the commercial interests lie and what a provision will mean in day-to-day operations. What you receive is not a legal treatise but a recommendation you can act on.
